This innovative competition celebrates STEM education, giving schoolchildren the tools to invent products that benefit society within a changing annual theme. We collaborated with the team at PA Consulting to handle the digital event assets, AV support, event filming and on-site editing for a quick turnaround of content.
In the lead-up to the event, our design team collaborated closely with the client to develop digital assets for the in-room LED wall, ensuring dynamic visuals were displayed throughout the event. We also prepared branded post-production assets for the highlights video. Our Project Manager oversaw the planning and logistics, acting as the main point of contact for the client.
Our team arrived early to set up the foyer area, where the 16 participating schools would showcase their inventions. We ensured each team had the necessary technical setup to present their projects, including screens, keyboards, and mice for them to connect their Raspberry Pi microcomputers.
In the main stage area, where the awards ceremony took place, we worked alongside the in-house AV team to programme event assets—including video stings, audio cues, and graphics. Our Live Stream Engineer managed the integration of digital assets for the LED screens, ensuring everything ran smoothly throughout the event. Meanwhile, our show caller coordinated the running order, cues, and transitions to maintain a seamless flow throughout the show.
Our Sound Technician managed the in-house audio system, while lighting and the PA were operated by the venue’s in-house team. We provided an Autocue Operator and a full teleprompting system for the speakers, including presidential-style teleprompters—transparent screens positioned in front of the lecterns that allowed presenters to read their scripts clearly without the audience seeing the text. A comfort monitor was also supplied to support speaker delivery.
Our video deliverables included a 1-minute social media highlights reel and a longer, in-depth recap video delivered within 48 hours. To ensure a fast turnaround, we had two on-site video editors working throughout the event to process and assemble footage in real-time.
One of our videographers captured a range of clips featuring presenter Fran Scott, the event host. To maintain variety and visual interest, our camera operator scouted the venue for strong backdrops and optimal lighting conditions. A second videographer focused on gathering b-roll footage to complement the interview content. Our production assistant supported the team throughout the day, helping to ensure all key moments were captured and assisting with any technical or logistical challenges as they arose.
